Google+ Launches Pages for Business

Posted by Ben Rowland in Social NetworkingMarketing

Google has launched its much anticipated clone of Facebook's business feature: Pages. Businesses can set up pages to connect with their customers. You can create a page for your company, your products, your brands -- anything.

Businesses can:
  • Share content: promotions, coupons, sales, information, new products
  • Launch hangouts: create "one-click video conversations" with customers or employees for product feedback, document sharing, problem debugging
  • Segment: use circles to target your messages to particular audiences
Google is also launching a new feature called Direct Connect. Type a + followed by the name of your page into the Google search bar, and Google will instantly take your customers right to your page -- no weeding through search results to find you.

Finally, Google is promising analytics so that you can see the impact of your page. Particularly interesting is Ripples, which promises to let you watch your messages as they spread across Google+ and identify influencers.
