The Tecture team tried the many flavors of Chicago Wednesday as we continued our traditional yearly lunch outing at the Taste. Word around the office is the windy city tastes mighty good. The 32nd annual Taste of Chicago featured an array of cuisine styles from near 40 of Chicago's restaurants.

Walking from our downtown office, Tecture joined the hungry throng of people flowing onto Columbus Drive and into Grant Park. Favorites met the team right at the door. Our designer, James Morvay, was particularly fond of the ribeye steak sandwich at The Billy Goat Tavern and Grill.

“It was fantastic.” raved James. “It was actually sized like a real sandwich.”

Our other favorites included Texas de Brazil's Bacon Wrapped Chicken and Franco's Ristorante's Watermelon Italian Ice. Some Tecturians even returned twice to their favorite places.

My favorite place was Carbon.” said Tecture's project manager, Jay Simon. “I had to go back twice. Their tortilla encrusted tilapia tacos with roasted pepper sauce had just the right mix of flavor and heat.”

The Tecture team enjoyed bonding between mouthfuls of food and was especially thrilled to introduce their new Iowa-native intern to the many flavors of the city.

“There are so many great things to try.” said Tonya Vrba. “I can't wait to return to some of these restaurants in the future and see their full menus.”

With stomachs filled to the brim with an assortment of American, Italian, Brazilian, Chinese and Indian foods, the team reluctantly ended their stay at the Taste of Chicago. A person can, after all, only carry so much in their bellies and still trek back to the office on two feet.
