Microsoft announces IE 8. We at Tecture have been putting it through its paces in beta releases, and we are hopeful that its release is the death knell for IE 6. Some of the new features include:

• Web Slices - provide the ability to instantly look up information from services such as Wikipedia/Digg in popup windows. No longer do you have to navigate away from a site to look something up.
  
• Improved search box - new features include a visual preview and "quick pick" search engine selection.
  
• Accelerators - Handy add-ons (plug ins anyone?) that make certain tasks quicker, faster and easier. Email pertinent information faster, Twitter quicker, translate with impunity...
